Legoland Discovery Center

I went to the Legoland Discovery Center with my family.

Outside there is a huge giraffe.  Once you pay you can have your picture taken using a falling-Lego background.  Then you go upstairs and get a stamp for your ticket.  Lego people on a TV tell you what to do.  You choose your color and go through the door.  Go to the table with your color and begin.  The Lego people will explain about the Lego factory; then you build Lego guys on a computer and decorate heads.  When there is a big yellow brick, the Lego people on the TV shout ”Lego”!  At the end of that, they give you a Lego brick that says Legoland Discovery Center.

Then there is a ride.  On the ride there are bad guys on the wall that you have to shoot.  You have your picture taken on that ride too.  Then you go to a mini Lego Boston.  There are games on the Lego world that you can play.

Lastly, there is a big room with a climbing area that has ropes, a slide and other cool things.  There is a movie place where they play 4D short movies.  There is another ride that spins and goes up and down. There are play areas for little kids and a place for building things and racing cars. There is a whole Ninjago room too.  There is a cafe to have lunch at and a really cool gift shop.

It was so fun!

Health Commercial: Running!

abigail-health1

To show what I’ve learned in our health unit, I prepared a commercial on a topic that interested me–running!  I researched all about being a young runner, including information I learned from my Girls on the Run coach.  I used a play to grab everyone’s attention, and we shared a healthy protein snack that is excellent energy for running.

Fireworks

Bang!  Boom!

The fireworks shoot into the sky!

Bang!  Boom!

Peep-peep,

The nighttime animals screech.

Bang!  Boom!

Pizz, whizz,

Bang!  Boom!

Pizz, whizz, bang!

Goodnight!

Persuasive Family Adventure: Old Sturbridge Village

abigail2
Have you ever been in a schoolhouse from the 1830’s? At Old Sturbridge Village, you can. I think you should go to Old Sturbridge Village.

First of all, you can learn about what it was like to live in New England in the 1830’s. I learned that the buildings that were used for drying were up off the ground so that the foods inside that were drying would dry better. They had pounds for stray animals. The owners had to pay money to get their animals back. When you were sick, you drank milk with stale bread crumbs in it.

Second is that you can go into the buildings. The pastor’s house had an attic where the children slept, and the town house had a big cellar. The small house had tree tapping tools, which I touched.

Lastly, you feel like you’re there, in the 1830’s. The people are dressed up and there are no distractions (except for two airplanes). The potter treated me as a villager. He even asked me if I had a horse to sell. Also, there was a bank, a farm, a mill, a kiln, a blacksmith shop, and so much more.

This was the coolest place ever!

Mud!

I’m waiting, waiting, waiting.

Oh, where is spring?

Where?

Mud, it sucks you in.

My boots are covered, covered.

It’s boring, ugly mud,

Sometimes nice,

Sometimes mean.

It’s ugly brown,

Dead.

The green needs to come,

Needs to!

The green is jumping.

It rains, then it’s sunny.

The green is coming,

Is coming!

Hooray!

Burlington

Over break I went to Burlington with my family. On the way we played barns. Every time you see a barn, you shout, “Barn!” Each barn is a point. At the end, the person who has the most points wins. I won! When we got there we went to the Echo Aquarium. We made pins, watched the eel get fed, explored and found champ. If you find champ, you get binoculars. They fell apart. For lunch we went to Al’s Fries. I got a burger, French fries, and Dr. Pepper. After lunch we went to this cupcake place and got cupcakes. I got a mint chocolate one. Then we went to the mall. After that, we drove home. It was so fun!
